Miyashiro is an internationally recognized business consultant, facilitator, writer, keynote speaker and Nonviolent Communication (NVC) practitioner, with over 30 years of experience working with Fortune 500 companies, small businesses, nonprofits, universities and government agencies throughout the U.S., as well as in Canada, Asia and India, and with clients from Japan to Indonesia. A student of Compassionate Communication, Marie has dedicated most of her professional career to end the workplace culture where human needs are unmet in the name of profits and productivity. This body of work has made a clear connection between the vitality of organizations and workplace systems where all needs matter, including those of the business, employee and customer. Marie is the President and founder of Elucity Network, Inc., an empathy-based consulting training firm based in Tucson, Arizona. Elucity provides business outreach services, organization development consulting, strategic planning facilitation and consulting, leadership and work team development and communication training for businesses, nonprofits, government agencies, universities and industry specific associations. Her firm has received over two-dozen awards for communication and partnering programs. She holds a degree in communication studies from Northwestern University and has studied with noted organization development consultant Sam Kaner, Ph.D., of the international consulting firm, Community At Work. She is accredited by the New York-based Public Relations Society of America and is also certified in planning by the International Association for Public Participation. Her book, The Empathy Factor – Your Competitive Advantage for Personal, Team, and Business Success, was published by PuddleDancer Press in 2011.
